Held at McAlwee's Property south of Dunedin, just over 200 entries, 41 in the 125 Class, 4- 125's the rest 250 4 strokes.
The day dawned rather gray after overnight rain and the track was extremely greasy on the steep and off camber sections which favoured the 4 stroke entries.
Race 1 Curr rounded the first corner in 5th position from the widest gate draw possible and moved into 3rd possition by the end of lap 1 and chased the 2 leaders 4 strokes for the entire race finishing 20 mtrs behind Henry Devereux's YZ250F and 20 seconds behind Justin Mcdonalds CR250F and the rest of the field were over 1 minute behind.
Race 2 Drew a more central gate and rounded the first corner in 2nd behind Devereuxs 250 and the pair of them dueled it out for 3 laps until Mcdonald passed both of them on a greasy uphill, Curr then passed Devereux and they swopped positions nearly every corner for the next lap till Curr finaly made a pass that stuck and pulled away to finish 2nd to McDonald some 10 seconds behind.
Race 3 Needing to beat Devereux for 2nd over all the gate dropped and the YZ125 showed all the field a clean hole shot with Devereux 5th and Mcdonald back in 9th , after 2 laps Devereux had moved into second with McDonald close behind. In lap 3 Mcdonald passed Devereux and set out after the flying YZ and after the 4th lap had closed the gap down to less than a second and took the lead on the long uphill climb and held the 1 second lead to the chequered flag
Race 4- YZ125 holeshot The Ian Brown Memorial Race, A 30 minute gut buster for the top 10 from all senior classes With an inside gate draw it was going to be hard against the open class and 250 class bikes , when the gate droped the 125 gave all it had and was the first 125 class bike around the corner behind 4- 450's and 2- 250's, with Mcdonalds CR250F close behind, after 2 laps the 2 baby class riders had moved into 5th and 6th possition and setteled into a good rythym chasing the bigger bikes. On lap 4 Mcdonalds CRF sheared the front sprocket and ended his challenge leaving Curr to chase down the big bikes by himself. At lap 8 he caught Macelwee"s RM250 and took another 2 laps to make a pass stick, then set out after Shaun McFaddens YZ450 and closed the gap down to 9 seconds when Mcfadden made a mistake and the 125 almost got past, these two raced hard in the failing light to close in on leader, Brad Nortons KX250 to finish less than 10 seconds behind, Curr taking out 3rd in this prestigious race.
